Destination Michigan November 2009 Showcase Recap

On November 4th at the Eagle Eye Golf Club, Destination Michigan hosted the Showcase of Ideas. With approximately 140 people in attendance, there was an equal ratio of planners to suppliers.

New this year, we added a bit of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and included a food drive as part of our event. The Greater Lansing Food Bank picked up 259 lbs of non-perishable food items from the efforts of the planners and suppliers who donated. Everyone that donated was entered into a drawing and (2) $25 Meijer Gift Cards were given away. The executive director of the GLFB spoke to the audience about the needs of the food bank and the simple ways to provide community help.

One other luncheon highlight was the CMP (Certified Meeting Professional) Scholarship Drawing. All meeting planners who registered before October 15th had the ability to submit a letter of entry for this drawing. One lucky winner, Anissa Stanley, with the Michigan Public Health Institute won $600.00 to use towards her CMP exam.

Destination Michigan sold out of the booth space this year at 40 exhibitors. Next year, we will be utilizing a larger room at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in an effort to grow the show.

Please mark your calendar for the 2010 Showcase of Ideas on Wednesday, November 3rd at the Eagle Eye Golf Club in East Lansing.
