2010 Michigan Meetings Expo a Huge Success!

Planners and Exhibitors agree that the 2010 Michigan Meetings Expo was exceptional! The opening keynote, Bruce Bommarito with US Travel Association showed us how the "Meetings Mean Business" campaign is taking shape. He gave us practical tips on how to get involved and make a difference in the hospitality industry.

A second general session speaker, Cindy Goodaker with Crain's Detroit Business, discussed how to get our events noticed by the media. Two great breakout sessions by Lisa Diggs with Buy Michigan Now and Shawn Denton with VIKTOR Incentives & Meetings were both a hit with their audiences.

An added touch to the Expo this year was a "give back" to the community. Attendees brought school supply items to donate to "Operation Kid Equip." The organization's mission is to provide school-aged children with the supplies necessary to be successful in school and in life.

Following a wonderful luncheon at the Sheraton Detroit Novi, the Planner Business Exchange took place in the ballroom. A big thank you to the gift card sponsors: MGM Grand Detroit and Mt. Pleasant Area CVB! Following the Planner Business Exchange, there was an open trade show with prize giveaways from each exhibitor. All in all, a great day of education, networking and business opportunities!
